For beginners, the ideal skis are those that prioritize ease of use, control, and forgiveness. Here's what to look for:
All Mountain Is What Is Recommended For Beginner Skis:
- Shorter Length: Skis should typically reach somewhere between your chin and forehead when stood on their tails. Shorter skis are easier to turn and control at slower speeds. at
- Narrower Waist Width: A narrower waist (around 70-80mm) makes it easier to initiate turns on groomed runs, which is where beginners spend most of their time.
- Softer Flex: A more flexible ski will bend more easily, making it easier to initiate turns and maintain control. This also provides a more forgiving ride, absorbing bumps and imperfections in the snow.
Important Considerations:
- Rental Skis: For your first few times on the slopes, renting skis is a great option. This allows you to try different types of skis and find what works best for you without making a big investment. (We can also do a "Rental Day" with an expert to let you try out different styles on the slope)
- Lessons: Taking lessons from a qualified instructor is essential for beginners. They can teach you the fundamentals of skiing and help you progress safely and effectively.
- If you do both of these, within a day or two you should be ready for a more Advanced Beginner or Intermediate Set up. Best
